Music Therapy is the professional and clinical use of music.  Its purpose is to meet an individual's physical, emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, and to also reach the therapeutic goals within the context of an interpersonal process.

Based on a comprehensive assessment, a music therapist utilizes music and other interrelated arts as therapeutic media in the treatment of clients.

The Certification Board for Music Therapists certifies music therapists (MT-BC) to practice nationwide.
